Charlotte Mayer’s sculptural jewellery gives light and presence, enhanced by the use of silver. 'Peppercorn Brooch' is a symbolic piece. Peppercorns are fruit with a single seed, that when dried and used as spice has become a ubiquitous part of the household, paired with salt, and in this way is perhaps a poetic analogy for the home and family. It is a distinctive quality for Mayer, who has three children, to turn such imagery into elegantly simple sculptural form.
