A skilled draughtsman but better known as a sculptor Bryan Kneale started his career as a figurative painter but soon turned to making sculpture. With the frustrations of age and not being able to work as physically in the studio Kneale has begun to focus more on drawing and in 2016 returned to painting. His tool of choice is the palette knife and having not used one for almost five decades the return to the medium has been an extraordinary refamiliarisation with an old medium. Highly sculptural in both their method and composition returning to painting has reinvigorated and reenergised Kneale and his work. We look forward to showing a number of new paintings at our next major solo show at Pangolin London in late October.
