Artist Abi Wills began her career as a historian; her art continues to be inspired by the material cultures of the past. She is interested in the feelings of connection, longing and loss evoked by ancient artefacts.
A finalist in the ‘Fresh’ competition at the British Ceramics Biennial in 2021, Wills creates playful, ambiguous and meditative sculptural objects out of clay and glass, testing the boundaries and bonds between materials.
The 'Playscapes' series, presented in Pangolin London’s online Christmas Exhibition, explores the emotional geography of objects, conjuring a landscape with various forms in porcelain and glass, while playing with subtle details of colour.
