Scotland has long been a source of internationally influential modern sculpture but Scottish Sculpture as a genre has often been under-celebrated. This event explores, unveils and celebrates Modern & Contemporary Scottish Sculpture with an exciting programme of talks and presentations led by artists and experts, who will seek to define what Scottish Sculpture stands for, to shine a light on the giants such as Eduardo Paolozzi, William Turnbull & Gerald Laing, uncover hidden stories and support a new generation of talented sculptors working in Scotland today.
This unique event will be held in the beautiful surroundings of Marchmont House, in the Scottish Borders, which holds an extraordinary art & furniture collection from Scotland and around the United Kingdom. After an extensive restoration, owner of Marchmont House and patron of the arts Hugo Burge hopes that by hosting exciting events such as this, the house will be brought to life as a home for makers and a hub for celebrating creativity.
